The hugely popular event, which celebrated its fourth year at the weekend, also witnessed a healthy crowd of spectators cheering on the top competitors pushing for a strong finish as well as friends and family.
Participants enjoyed an opportunity to compete with others or test their own fitness within a safe closed road circuit and race against the backdrop of the River Tees.
The standard distance race hosted the prestigious Triathlon England National Duathlon Championship and a number of competitors were crowned Triathlon England National Duathlon Champion in their respective age group.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “Once again we have enjoyed another amazing sporting event right here on our doorstep in Stockton.
“The Duathlon is a consistently popular event for not only the participants but also an exciting day out for the crowds who love to come down to the Riverside and cheer on the exhilarating action.
“It is a greatly accessible event with the three race distances on offer so there’s a challenge on offer for keen athletes but also a competitive element for those wish to take part for fun and fitness. I’d encourage anyone thinking about it to keep looking out for the information on how to register for next year’s event!”
Information on how to register for a place in any of the distances available in next year’s Stockton Duathlon will be released later in the year.
