The award-winning City Tavern at Northumberland Road, Newcastle, has expanded its food offering, and kitchen opening hours, to serve an ‘eggciting’ new range of breakfasts.
The menu, which includes dishes such as Eggs Benedict, and bacon and duck eggs served open on toasted sourdough, will be served Monday to Sunday from 10am.
The state-of-the-art bar, widely recognised for its Tudor style façade, will also be serving up vegetarian and gluten free options, including vegetarian sausage and duck eggs on a gluten/wheat free baked baguette.
“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and Newcastle has a growing brunch culture, so creating our ‘cracking’ new breakfast menu was a no-brainer” said City Tavern’s owner, David King.
“We’re proud, that like all of our menus, our breakfast items are locally sourced, as well as having vegetarian and gluten free options available for diners too.”
The new menu will sit alongside City Tavern’s existing menu of homemade pub classics, its recently launched vegetarian menu and its unique doggy menu for the pub’s four-legged visitors.
City Tavern was taken over by Mr King in 2014 and has had a £450,000 refurbishment to create a modern bar while still retaining the venue’s historic features.
