Crowds of people are reflecting on achieving incredible personal goals after recently completing the gruelling 10km Newcastle Stampede event at Newcastle Racecourse. The extreme endurance showcase, in its 9th year, has smashed all expectations with over 2,000 people battling against the odds to get over the finishing line.
North East-based, elite: Together, were proud sponsors of this year’s Newcastle Stampede. It was the perfect marriage with elite’s no-nonsense approach to health, fitness and well-being matching the energetic ambitions of Newcastle Stampede.
70% of participants enter as teams from local businesses, community groups and charities. The adult Stampede is for anyone over the age of 16 and the Mini one-mile event is for people aged five to fifteen years old.
Deborah Scott, Sponsorship Manager at Newcastle Racecourse and Events, said: “From start to finish it has been an absolute pleasure working alongside elite. We felt their extreme popularity and established North East brand brought a level of prestige to our event.
“They not only had a huge presence as sponsors but they also got 450 clients from all over the region to take part. elite went over and above the call of duty by even providing their own personal trainers to put participants through their paces before the adult and children’s Stampede events. The atmosphere was electric!”
elite: Together regularly grabs social media headlines with life-changing successes from its three fitness schemes Transform, Fusion and Challenge. The numbers speak for themselves with over 13,000 members currently shedding pounds in studios across the North of England in Cramlington, Durham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Stockton. The online reach for elite’s ‘before and after stories’ goes into the millions.
Paul Alexander, Founder of elite: Together, said: “It has been a privilege for elite to be associated with the Newcastle Stampede and to play our part in so many people achieving their goals. The human body is a wonderful thing and it was inspiring to watch over two thousand people pushing themselves to the limit to get over the finishing line. In some cases, covered in mud but with a massive smile across their face!
“elite is all about working with real people, who have real stories to tell and who want to make a real difference to their lives. That is why we felt the Newcastle Stampede was a good match for us. We are all about changing the way people think about exercise and fitness.
“Fitness is not a race. If anything, it’s the same way people approach marathons, where you have to train, have the right frame of mind and physical condition to reach those goals.”
People feel a huge sense of achievement after completing the Newcastle Stampede. They quite often use the event to build up self-confidence and fitness ahead of tackling other events like the Great North Run as Newcastle Stampede caters for all levels of runners from elite to fun runners.
The Newcastle Stampede slogan is “Are you tough enough?”. This is reflective of the event being both a mental and physical challenge that pushes participants to their limits, much like elite’s infamous 20lb challenges where they achieve results by pushing people towards their personal boundaries.
