The soft furnishings course includes training on how to measure accurately and cut precisely to create items such as curtains and cushions.
Running for seven weeks from Wednesday 3 February, places on the course are available for £38.
Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, said: “Buying soft furnishings from retailers can often be expensive. This is a great way to get the skills required to create your own and update your home according to personal taste.
“Beyond this, the satisfaction of gaining a new skill in the company of like-minded people and with the help of experienced tutors is always a positive experience.”
While no previous knowledge is necessary, learners will need to bring their own basic sewing kit, scissors, pins, a tape measure, threads, needles and fabric.
