Hosted by performance poet Kate Fox, the gig saw Northallerton’s successful ‘Ey Up Stand Up’ join forces with ‘BloominWords Cabaret’ (a popular evening of words and music held regularly at the BookCafe) and featured poetry sets from Louise Fazackerley and Matt Abbott and music from The Bookshop Band.
“Louise is a performance poet based in Bury, whose balletic movements and gentle voice beautifully portray often quite dark images,” said Kate Staines, Hambleton District Council’s Arts and Recreation Development Officer.
“Matt, a young poet based in Wakefield is quite possible the coolest geek around, and with his down to earth poetry and interest in refugees and pies, makes for an interesting and varied set. The Bookshop Band (pictured) write and perform songs based on books they have read, which is fantastically familiar when you know the book and intriguing when you haven’t!”
During the interval the audience were asked to create their own poems with the best one (as chosen by the audience) awarded a prize by Kate Fox.
