All eyes on cleaner streets for regional waste company

Cleaning up the region’s streets is the focus for an innovative new waste solutions business.

Focus Waste Solutions (FWS), based in Hartlepool, started trading at the end of 2016 and the directors quickly identified a need for safe, hygienic syringe removal from public places.

From their base on Graythorp Industrial Estate, FWS can remove and dispose of any waste from residential or commercial premises.  The business is another aspect to Focus Removals, an existing domestic and commercials removals business offering global coverage, started three years ago by two ex-servicemen, Peter Crowe and Lee Caldwell.

Given that the plan for Focus Removals was to offer a complete, end to end solution and move anything anywhere, it was quickly identified that clients often had rubbish and waste to also dispose of.  Peter and Lee then decided to set up FWS so that a specific service could be developed.  It became apparent that there was a problem with needles being found at properties and owners didn’t know where to turn.  Peter and Lee felt this was something that needed addressing and therefore set about ensuring that all staff were trained in syringe removal to NVQ standard.  FWS have now seen a dramatic increase in the demand for this service from a range of customers.

Being ex-servicemen and with 90 per cent of all the staff ex-military personnel, there is a real passion for quality and attention to detail. Due to the nature of the waste business and in particular, the syringe removal, it is essential that clients have total peace of mind that matters are being dealt with efficiently, safely and swiftly.

The syringe removal service is open to anyone who needs it, including residential areas/properties, business parks, commercial premises and public open spaces.

The company are so confident about the quality of their service that they are offering a free syringe removal service for the whole of March 2017.

Peter Crowe, director of FWS said: “We are very excited about the potential for FWS and the level of potential work for us is amazing.  Regarding our syringe removal service – this is something that we are particularly passionate about.  We are on a mission to help clean up our region and helping to dispose of syringes found in areas where they shouldn’t be is one way that we can make a difference.  We know there are some excellent charities out there who offer services to users to prevent syringes from being left in public places, however, it still goes on and the public need to feel safe when out and about.  We have some business clients who turn up to their place of work and find syringes on their premises – it is essential that no-one touches them so it can leave a business owner with a problem which we can resolve quickly and efficiently.  The future of FWS looks very exciting and there are plans to introduce more aspects to our business.”
