Feasts for Father’s Day

Screen Shot 2016-06-07 at 10.43.32A leading North East catering company is preparing not one, but two, Father’s Day feasts.

1879 Events Management, which manages catering and events at the Stadium of Light and National Glass Centre (NGC), Sunderland, will be serving up special menus at both venues on Sunday June 19.

Visitors to the NGC’s brasserie, which was recently renamed The Glass Yard, can enjoy a three-course meal with a choice of four starters, five main courses and five desserts.

This includes options such as king prawn and smoked salmon cocktail, braised beef with Yorkshire pudding, potatoes and seasonal vegetables and rhubarb and apple crumble with creamy vanilla custard.

Over at the stadium, families can tuck into a similarly decadent array of dishes and create their perfect menu from more than a dozen options overall.

This includes starters such as terrine of spiced chicken or salad of lemon-poached salmon, main courses ranging from slow cooked lamb shank to wild mushroom and brie wellington and desserts such as the sweet sticky toffee pudding or savoury farmhouse cheese plate.

Servings at both venues will be running from noon until 2pm and all dads will receive a free gift to take away.

David Moses, General Manager at 1879 Events Management, said:  “Father’s Day only comes once a year, so what better way to say thank you and I love you to that special man in your life than with a mouthwatering meal prepared by our award-wining chefs.  We won’t even make them do the washing up.”

Prices for Father’s Day start at £18.95 for three courses at The Glass Yard or £19.95 at the Stadium of Light.  One or two course menus are also available for those with a smaller appetite and there is a chance to upgrade to a Champagne reception at the Stadium only, which is priced at £26.95 per person.
