Fifties themed summer fayre for Queens Meadow Care Home

A 1950s themed summer fayre took place at Queens Meadow Care Home – with young dancers performing songs and routines from movie classic Grease.

The Hartlepool care home welcomed special guests Mayor Councillor Paul Beck and Mayoress Mary Beck to enjoy the performance and meet with residents.

They were entertained by Kelly’s Dance School, who dressed as The Pink Ladies to perform numbers from the fifties musical.

Younger dancers chose a medley of nursery rhymes and songs from popular Disney movies.

Hartlepool United FC mascot Angus the Monkey also attended the summer fayre, meeting with delighted fans for photos.

Julie Armstrong, home manager of Queens Meadow Care Home, on Stockton Road, said: “We always do a themed event for our summer fayres and this year we decided on the 1950s.

“To have the students of Kelly’s Dance School perform songs and dance routines from Grease, Disney movies and nursery rhymes added to the fun and the residents really enjoyed the performance, singing and clapping along.

“There were smiles all round when the little children sang and danced as they looked so cute.

“It was great for the residents to meet the Mayor and Mayoress and we’d like to thank them for making the time to visit.

“And we really appreciate the support from Hartlepool United. Angus the Monkey is a familiar favourite at the home.”
