The first ever MINI plug-in hybrid is arriving in Newcastle as part of a special event at Lloyd MINI Newcastle.
One of the most innovative cars to ever come off the MINI production line, the Countryman S E ALL4 offers emissions-free driving in a crossover body with the added dependability of a small petrol motor. According to MINI statistics, 90 per cent of its buyers drive only 30 to 40 miles per day, making the latest hybrid MINI a compelling prospective.
The launch of the S E ALL 4 in Newcastle follows a successful electric car roll-out from BMW, including the i8 electric supercar and its compact counterpart the i3. BMW has also launched the new hybrid 530e, the only 5 Series which can be plugged in.
Michelle Caveney, Head of Business at Lloyd Newcastle BMW and MINI, said: “We’re always incredibly excited when a new model launches, particularly one which is as exciting and cutting-edge as the new Countryman hybrid, and we can’t wait to show this one off to motorists in the North East.
“It’s a car which is not only suitable for city living, but for country dwellers too, given how well it handles on the open road, and the flexibility offered as a result of the petrol motor. We’re already seeing a steady rise in the popularity of electric vehicles among North East motorists and this latest MINI is sure to encourage even more to switch to hybrid.”
The new hybrid is arriving at the Lloyd showroom as part of a MINI and BMW sales weekend fromJune 23 to 25 at the retailer. As well as MINI’s latest model, Lloyd will be showcasing the new BMW 5 Series Touring.
Also in the showroom is the impressive roof box tent for MINI. To show the MINI Countryman’s versatility and outline its four-wheel drive credentials, Autohome worked alongside the MINI design team to create the special edition AirTop roof tent, which has room for two.
Michelle added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming car enthusiasts and new and existing customers during our special launch weekend. We’d love to see as many people as possible who want to get a proper look at one of the new models or who just want to pop in to find out a bit more about electric vehicles and grab a cup of coffee.”
