Frank’s the Flooring Store, one of the North East’s largest independent retailers, has handed over £25,844 to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Staff from the company’s 25 stores selected Macmillan as their chosen charity and have taken part in a year of fundraising activities, including a fancy dress day.

Generous donations from staff, customers and suppliers brought in more than £8,000, which was trebled by Frank’s to make £25,000.

The cash has now been handed over to Michelle Muir, senior fundraising manager for Macmillan in County Durham.

Jason Maguire, managing director of CreateCity group, said: “We’re delighted we have raised so much for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“This is the second year we’ve run a fundraising drive for Macmillan, raising £16,000 the first time and nowmore than £25,000. Our customers and suppliers have really supported our staff to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan.

“It’s always difficult to choose just one charity to support but Macmillan does some amazing work to provide help and support needed by those diagnosed with or affected by cancer. Everyone here has either been directly affected by cancer or knows someone who has been, so to hand over a significant sum of money to such a deserving cause is fantastic.”
