Free course will help residents get to grips with computers

County Durham residents are being offered the chance to improve their computer skills with a free course.

County Durham Housing Group is inviting anyone living in Bishop Auckland and the surrounding area to a free 10-week computer skills course.

The training will allow complete beginners or those lacking confidence to get to grips with searching the internet, using common programmes like word processing and spreadsheet packages, sending emails and a whole host of other basic computer skills.

The course will take place at Auckland Youth and Community Centre in Woodhouse Close, Bishop Auckland, from Friday, 18 August.

County Durham Housing Group Community Training Coordinator, Sean Robson, said: “We’re committed to improving residents’ employment prospects, and signing up to our free computer skills course will do just that.

“Within no time you’ll be using a mouse like a pro and have the essential ICT skills that employers are looking for.

“This is a great opportunity for people to pick up the basics and make sure they’ve got the right skills on their CV. It’s completely free and our friendly trainers will make sure that you become confident around computers in no time.”
