Middlesbrough Environment City’s Vegetable and Fruit Growing course will start next month (March) at the Town Farm Community Allotment on Cargo Fleet Lane.
The course is suitable for beginners and improvers and covers a wide range of skills to enable growers to start up or expand home or allotment food growing.
The content includes indoor and outdoor seed sowing, soil management and testing, fruit growing, weed control and composting.
The course runs from 9.30am until 12.30pm every Tuesday morning from March 15 to April 19, with the six sessions involving practical outdoor work as well as classroom learning.
It is free to attend for those aged 19 years or over and who have been resident in the UK for at least three years, and commit to attend all six sessions.
