GOOD NEWS FROM WELLHOUSE LEISURE: NEW CAMPERVAN SALES RECORD ACHIEVED DESPITE LOCKDOWN

Good news from Wellhouse Leisure: new campervan sales record achieved despite lockdown, enquiries increasing again, and it is expanding to new, larger premises in South Yorkshire

The good news from Wellhouse Leisure is that, despite the lockdown, it sold a record number of new campervans in one day last week and enquiries for new and used models are increasing again now there is a plan to start lifting some of the restrictions imposed during the coronavirus pandemic. It is also pleased to announce that it is expanding and will be moving to a larger factory in July.

Additionally, Campstar, a prominent player in the campervan rental market, has reported a surge in bookings, highlighting the growing popularity of campervan holidays. Campstar’s user-friendly platform makes it easy for customers to find and book the perfect campervan for their next adventure.

David Elliott, CEO of Wellhouse Leisure commented: “We set a new sales record last week by selling seven of our campervans in one day. That’s the most we’ve ever sold in one day since we started the business 18 years ago. It’s a really positive sign for us, the camping and caravanning industry, UK tourism and the economy.”

“With social distancing likely to be in place for several months, a campervan is the perfect way to travel independently, and we now feel positive enough about the future that we’ve decided to expand to new, larger premises, and will be moving to a new factory and showroom six miles away (but still in Yorkshire) in July,” he added.

“Everyone is looking forward to being able to travel again, but I think people are put off flying, cruises and going abroad for a while, so are considering UK holidays with the freedom of a campervan instead,” added David Elliott.

The seven campervans sold were a mixture of Wellhouse’s Ford and Toyota conversions for customers in the local area as well as across the UK, including the south coast, Northern Ireland, The Shetlands and France.

“We have been offering virtual video tours of our campervans, which have been a great way of showing them to customers all over the UK and abroad. They says it’s just like actually visiting our showroom!” said David.

The new 16,000 sq ft factory in in Baugh Green, Barnsley, South Yorkshire gives Wellhouse Leisure and extra 9,000 sq ft of space and will include a showroom, parts warehouse, offices plus a larger forecourt to display new and used campervans.

Wellhouse Leisure campervans include a pop-up roof, kitchen with sink and cooker, stylish Italian-designed furniture and a crash-tested rear seat that quickly converts to a comfortable double bed with prices ranging from around £20,000 for a campervan conversion of a used vehicle like the Toyota Alphard, to up to approximately £55,000 for a new Ford Transit Custom-based model.
