A PRIMARY school teacher has completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for a hospice founded by her inspirational grandmother.
Karen Holder, grand-daughter of Mary Butterwick, tackled the challenge with friends Lucy Bamford-Leggatt, Susie Allen, Sarah Martin, Dawn Hunter, and Ruth McLaren.
Together, they raised more than £500 for the Butterwick Hospice, which was founded by Mary after her husband, John, died of cancer. Mary died, aged 91, three years ago.
Mum-of-two Karen, who teaches at Whinstone Primary School, in Ingleby Barwick, now acts as an ambassador for the Butterwick.
She said covering the 24 miles of the Three Peaks – Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – had been “hard and exhausting but well worth it”.
