In their latest move of the summer, the Riders have added the talented Swedish forward to their ranks as they continue to pile the talent high ahead of trying to defend their coveted BBL Championship title.
Hampton featured in the 2014-15 Plymouth University Raiders side where he averaged almost 20 points and eight rebounds per game. The 25-year old has also featured with a number of top flight Swedish clubs, including Norrkoping Dolphins and Eco Orebro.
“I am super-excited to be a part of the Riders organisation and to be a part of the team,” stated Hampton.
“My summer has been good. I have been working out with Norrkoping Dolphins, who Leicester played in pre-season last year. I’m here until end of this month getting ready. I am more familiar with the BBL now from my time at Plymouth, and I know from the start what it’s about and what’s to be expected.
“I don’t know yet what my role will be with the team, but I am a pretty versatile guy. The most important thing for me is winning. Nothing would please me more than to help Riders win back-to-back Championships,” he added.
Meanwhile Riders’ head coach Rob Paternostro commented, “It’s great to have Pierre with the Riders.
“He is a talented player who performed very well the last time he was in the BBL and we believe that he will fit in very well with our team and we’re excited to work with him for the upcoming season.
“I love his versatility, he can play multiple positions and his many skills that can impact a game. He is a young player who is still developing and we feel will continue to improve during his time here.
“I have enjoyed speaking to him. He is hungry and excited to be here with Leicester and it’s always great when you have players with that enthusiasm,” concluded Paternostro.
Hampton will join Drew Sullivan, Harrison Gamble, Andy Thomson and Tyler Bernardini who have already been confirmed for 2016-17.
