Help on hand for teens taking their first steps into the world of work

Durham County Council’s One Point service’s Start Today campaign brings together information on a vast range of opportunities, with advisors on hand to offer guidance to 16 to 19-year-olds who are unsure about their future careers.

Cllr Ossie Johnson, the council’s cabinet member for children and young people’s services, said: “We understand the world of work and training can be daunting, but don’t worry, we are here to help.

“Our One Point advisors can help young people to explore the choices available, assist them in making decisions about their education or career plans, and aid them in overcoming anything which may be holding them back.”

All the latest information on vacancies will be available in schools as well as online at www.help4teens.co.uk/start.

Chris Peverall, One Point Operations Manager for the north area said: “There are a vast range of local opportunities on offer.

“We urge young people, aged 16 to 19 and not in education, training or employment to visit our information online or contact one of our expert advisors.”
