The housing provider, which is one of the largest affordable landlords in the UK and headquartered in Newcastle, was named Landlord of the Year (social) at the RESI awards.

The awards were held on Wed 15 May at Grosvenor House in London and specifically recognised Home Group’s commitment to building new homes.

Mark Henderson, Home Group chief executive, said: “Colleagues throughout Home Group do a great job each day and I’m delighted we’ve been recognised at these awards. Home Group is currently celebrating its 80th birthday and this award recognises something that has been our core value for all of that time – building homes for people who need them!”

Judges at the ceremony were impressed with Home Group’s commitment to work with other partners through Joint Ventures to deliver homes. Among the schemes highlighted were:

These eight deals alone will deliver more than 3,500 homes of which 1,300 will be affordable homes. The schemes will have a development value of £650m and will deliver surplus of £70m for Home Group to reinvest in affordable housing.

Mr Henderson said: “The judges were impressed with major regeneration schemes we have undertaken throughout the UK in areas including Gateshead, Dundee, Glasgow and Rayners Lane in London which has recently been cited by the London School of Economics as an example of how large scale regeneration can take place whilst retaining existing residents and improving social outcomes.”

Home Group was also recognised for the work it has done to find solutions to the housing crisis in London. Specifically its Flexi Rent model which addresses affordability issues and operates using finance from institutional investors.
