A Lancashire hotel is to celebrate the county’s rich heritage in food and drink with a special 10-course taster menu.
The Lancaster House Hotel is marking Lancashire Day on 27 November 2019 with head chef Damien Ng and his culinary team designing the menu with the help of local residents who have entered a competition to come up with some of the county’s best dishes.
Lancashire Day commemorates the day in 1295 when the first elected representatives from the county were called to Westminster by King Edward I to attend what later became known as ‘The Model Parliament’.
The hotel, which is run by English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, will produce five Lancashire Day dishes of its own, with a further five to be chosen from competition entries it has been receiving.
Five lucky winners will help the Lancaster House culinary team to create their own dishes and will also have the chance to take part in a special, complimentary dinner on the day.
“We wanted to do something special this year to mark Lancashire Day and involve our local community,” explains Lancaster House Hotel head chef Damien Ng. “So our ultimate Lancashire tasting menu will feature up to five recommended dishes from fellow Lancastrians
“It’s a chance to remind ourselves about what this great county has to offer in terms of wonderful food and drink, historic locations, natural beauty and great hospitality for visitors and our guests.”
Dishes will be selected by Wednesday 13 November, so there is still time for people to enter the competition by e-mailing their favourite Lancashire recipe to group.media@englishlakes.co.uk
