A housing association celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2019 is seeking a new board member.
Railway Housing Association, which has homes in areas such as Darlington, York, Doncaster, Leeds, Hull and Newcastle, is particularly keen to hear from people who have an interest in social housing and serving on a board.
They would become part of a nine-member board tasked with overseeing the strategic direction of one of the UK’s oldest housing associations.
Railway Housing Association was established in 1919, initially to provide housing for railwayman returning from World War One but now offers affordable homes for everyone in housing need.
Anne Rowlands, Chief Executive of Railway Housing Association, said: “We are hoping that the prospect of joining our board in our centenary year, with all the exciting things we have planned, will appeal to lots of people, particularly those who already have an interest in social housing.
“The Association has come a long way since 1919 and as well as celebrating our past, we are also looking forward to the future and to enable us to continue providing good services and affordable homes, we need a strong board to help us meet the challenges of regulation and ensure we are well governed and financially sound.”
Railway’s board meetings are held in Darlington approximately six times a year, with additional training sessions. Board members are not remunerated but receive out of pocket expenses

The closing date for expressions of interest and CVs is Friday 1st February and interviews will be held in Darlington on 13th February, with a view to making an appointment in advance of the next board meeting on 27th February.
