County Durham Housing Group’s digital inclusion programme ‘Time to get online’ is hosting two ‘Techy Tea Parties’ as part of ‘Get Online Week’ – an annual campaign that targets the 12.6m Brits who do not have the very basic digital skills.
The informal sessions, which are also supported by local landlords Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes, aim to help attendees get to grips with the online world and show people that the internet is not as daunting as it may appear.
Events will take place at:
- Mickle Grove Community Hub, Bishop Auckland on Tuesday, 18 October between 10am and 12pm
- Murton Resource Centre, Murton, on Thursday, 20 October between 10am and 2pm.
Debbie Howe, Digital Inclusion Project Co-ordinator, is encouraging anyone who would like to become more technologically savvy to come along.
She said: “Today’s society is more and more being placed within a digital platform, with all sectors shifting towards an online first approach to customer service.
“By signing up to an event attendees can hear about the benefit the internet offers, including keeping in touch with friends and family, looking for a new job, saving money and much more. “
