How to Succeed in Doing Business During the Pandemic

There’s no getting away from the fact that COVID-19 has made it difficult for all businesses to thrive. The public isn’t buying as they normally would and companies have had to adapt and drastically change their business plans in order to survive. Certain industries like those creating PPE for people have had it easy because personal protective equipment is in huge demand, even take away food has seen an increase in sales. But many others are struggling to stay afloat. Those forward-thinking enough have been able to develop strategies to keep their business going and many are still in the development stage working out what they can do. Here we are going to take a look at a few things you need to succeed during the corona pandemic.

Work From Home

It goes without saying that this is the best thing you can do for your company in these testing times, a strong and happy workforce is going to be much more beneficial than one that is scared of falling ill. If you are able to work out a deal with the landlords of your office to reduce your rent, or even terminate it completely then you’re going to be saving a huge amount of money. This money can be allocated to other areas of the business and allow you to progress and develop in ways you haven’t been able to before. If you are able to enforce a work from home policy and make it a success then you will end up with more money and a happier workforce.

Watch For Threats

As if having a deadly virus on the loose wasn’t enough to think about. There are many other businesses that will be threatening your livelihood and you need to be aware of them in order to combat them. Something that is becoming a growing threat for sellers is other companies making cheap knockoffs in China and reselling them to the western market. If consumers believe that they can have what looks like an identical product but for a quarter of the price then they will opt for that option before looking into the fine print of what they’re buying. These products aren’t the same quality but still end up being a huge risk for any company selling their wares online. Don’t get put off by these companies, instead, take it as an opportunity to learn and research how you can overcome the situation.

Update Your Website

If your entire company has just been moved online then it’s probably a good idea to reevaluate your website and see if you can update it in any way. Ensure that it is the best it can possibly look and test out the navigation. If a consumer is trying to use your website and it’s difficult to move around and find the information or product that they want, then they’re going to click off and find it somewhere else. Make sure all your images are up to date and they are relevant, ensuring they aren’t too big as that will slow down your load speed when a customer visits your page.

SEO

At this stage, you’re going to want as many people as possible visiting your site. The more people there are viewing your website and interacting with your products or services then the percentage chance of them parting ways with their money becomes much higher. Search Engine Optimisation is a process that grows the quantity and quality of your website’s traffic by increasing the visibility and popularity, making it appear higher in search engine results. There are many ways in which you can do this. So if it’s a term you haven’t heard of, I would research the ways in which you can help your business this way.

Social Media

Social media is possibly the best thing for businesses since television was invented. We now have the ability to pinpoint our target market without having to cast our marketing net to thousands of people, instead, we can find influencers and YouTubers to do that for us. There are plenty of ways in which social media can help your business and it’s something you should dedicate time to. Companies with popular social media are far more likely to be successful in this modern world than those without.

COVID-19 is a tough time for everyone, not only business but the public too. The only thing that seems to be benefitting is mother nature. Take a look at the points raised above and hold a meeting with your managers at work to see if you can do anything that will help your business succeed during these tough times. Adapt and overcome should be your motto.
