The grant has enabled Emma Barugh, Managing Director of MB Human Resources Consulting (MBHR) to go into partnership with world-renowned author and speaker Paul McGee to develop their new product, Thrive.
Emma received a grant of £7,500 towards the development costs which were in the region of £25,000.
Thrive, the employee engagement system, underpinned by robust research into employee satisfaction, motivation and engagement also enables companies to create a system that is completely unique to them. It aims to help businesses boost performance and increase productivity and profit while reducing staff sickness and turnover by creating amazing places to work.
Currently, MBHR Consulting works with a number of companies across the North East. However, the introduction of Thrive is set to put the firm on the international map.
Due to Thrive’s unique and specialist system, it is predicted it will quadruple the turnover of MBHR within 12 months and create two new jobs over the next six months.
The Small Grant Scheme, funded by the SSI Task Force, is supporting the Tees Valley manufacturing and service sector, enabling businesses to expand and grow the local economy.
Emma said: “The Small Grant scheme has enabled me to create an innovative and ground-breaking product that is likely to be used across the globe. Thrive is completely unique and will help to take my work outside the North East and continue to grow at a rapid rate. I am looking to expand my team which will also help to support the regional economy.
“The funding secured through Tees Valley Business Compass was vital to the development of Thrive, I encourage other businesses across the area to see what it can do for them”.
Paul Booth, Chair of the Local Enterprise Partnership (Tees Valley Unlimited), said: “Emma is among a number of businesses that have benefited from a Small Business Grant. The grant scheme is continuing to help drive the Tees Valley economy forward with job creation and investment. I recommend that other businesses take advantage of the fantastic opportunities the business grant schemes can offer.”
