Huge Appetite for Stokesley’s First Food Week as Businesses show Support

Screen Shot 2015-09-23 at 12.04.01Stokesley’s first dedicated celebration of local eateries and food producers has received the backing of dozens of local- and international- businesses.

‘Stokesley Food Week’, which gets underway on Saturday 3rd October and runs until Saturday 10th October, will showcase the wide variety of restaurants, cafes, pubs and other food-related businesses in the market town.

The week has already gained the support of a range of local businesses providing offers for Stokesley Food Week, including Chapter’s Hotel, Sorella, Howard’s, Chapter’s Deli, Stokesley Diner, Bexter’s, The Mill and Stokesley Farmers’ Market*.

In addition the town’s largest employer, Quorn, is supporting the week by holding a special demonstration event at the launch of Stokesley Food Week on Saturday 3rd October. The company’s home economists will be providing samples and recipe cards on the High Street, alongside the monthly Stokesley Farmers’ Market which is also holding special events to launch the week.

The week itself has been organised by Stokesley Parish Council and a host of local volunteers who have donated their professional services for free.

Claire Lee, head of UK innovation at Quorn Foods, said: “We’re delighted to be taking part in Stokesley Food Week, alongside other local businesses. It’s a great opportunity for us to work with the community and share our delicious food, whilst trying the other tasty offerings too. We’ll be there at the launch, giving free samples and recipes, as well as some demonstrations from the team.”

Ian Blakemore, parish councillor, said:  “The support we’ve had for Stokesley Food Week has been fantastic- it’s great to see so many local businesses pulling together. From the restaurants themselves and marketing experts to local food manufacturers and the Parish Council, the support and enthusiasm is really encouraging.”

Stewart Brennan, parish councillor, said: “Stokesley Food Week is going to give people a real taste of what our vibrant market town has to offer. Whether you fancy sampling the delights of our eateries or locally-made produce, there’s so much for everyone to get involved in. The aim is to showcase what the town has to offer, give businesses a boost and- long term- perhaps even consider our own food and drink festival.”
