Improved road surface along the A1 in Northumberland

s300_M42_dusk_940x600Drivers will benefit from an improved road surface when work starts on Monday 9 November to resurface sections of the A1 in Northumberland.

Contractors for Highways England will be carrying out patching work between Fenwick crossroads and West Mains crossroads, a distance of nearly 2 miles, will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am.

Highways England project manager Steve Bishop said:

This is essential maintenance work that needs to be completed along the A1 and we will be carrying out this work overnight when traffic levels are at their lowest.

Once complete, drivers will benefit from an improved road surface. Each junction off the A1 between Fenwick and Oxford junctions will be closed during the work and manned by our traffic management team, so that drivers can either be escorted through the site to access properties or redirected to join the diversion route.

Clearly signed diversions will be in place via the B6353 and the B6525.
