Improving Outside Play

A small village on the edge of Hambleton has improved its outdoor play thanks to a council grant.

Shipton by Beningbrough has added a nest swing to its range of outdoor play equipment, not only for use by children from the area but also for the many visitors the village receives.

Backed by Ward Member, Councillor Chris Rooke and funded through Hambleton District Council’s ‘Making a Difference Awards’, it supports the council’s priority for enhancing health and wellbeing by increasing participation in a physical activity.

“The new swing will provide the children with an additional play experience not provided by the play equipment that is already in place,” said Playground Committee Chairman, Peter Chapman.

“Our existing equipment has been in place for oven seven years and is used daily especially during the spring, summer and autumn. It is great that the district council is able to help small villages like ourselves with projects that we cannot afford to fund, but ones which will make a real difference to the local community.”
