Team GB’s inspiring winter Olympian and a host of inspiring entrepreneurs are to descend on the North East, as the Entrepreneurs’ Forum hosts one of the biggest events in the region for anyone wanting to grow their business.
Mica McNeill, who produced the best ever performance by a British women’s Olympic bobsleigh team at this year’s Winter Olympics, will address the region’s business community at ‘Together We Can Take on the World’ at the Crowne Plaza, in Newcastle.
Mica will draw on her own entrepreneurial experiences as she crowdfunded to be able to compete at the Games, having been let down by British Bobsleigh due to financial ‘mismanagement’.
Sir John Timpson, the man behind Timpson, the UK shoe repair chain, which operates more than 1,900 stores and employs 4,000 staff, will join Mica as a guest speaker, along with Angus Thirlwell, CEO of Hotel Chocolat – one of the most innovative and highly respected super-premium chocolatiers in the world – and World Record holding athlete and adventurer Mark Beaumont.
Julian Leighton, co-founder of fast-growing digital agency Orange Bus, completes the line-up of inspirational speakers. The North East firm was acquired by Capita in 2016 and now employs 120 staff, operating across Newcastle, London, Sheffield and Edinburgh.
The conference will see more than 300 business leaders gather for what is the highlight of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum’s event calendar, with BBC Radio Newcastle presenter Alfie Joey hosting.
