International jazz singer set to perform in Jesmond

A talented jazz singer is starting her national tour with a performance at one of Jesmond’s most popular restaurants.

Durham born jazz singer, Jo Harrop is returning to the north-east from her home in London to perform at renowned Jesmond restaurant The Cherry Tree on Wednesday July 26 at 19:30

The Cherry Tree restaurant, based on Osborne Road, is known for its live music nights as well as an appetising menu.

Jo said: “I am excited to perform at one of my favourite restaurants and venues in the north east. The atmosphere and food is fantastic and I love performing here – this is about my 6th or 7th performance at The Cherry Tree but this time with a new line up.

“The venue is perfect for an evening of music and fine dining. I am delighted to be starting my tour with a gig  near my  hometown.”

Although hailing from the north-east, Jo now resides in London where she performs most of her gigs. Her favourite artists and inspirations are Billie Holiday, Anita O’Day, Julie London & Peggy Lee. She often performs a repertoire of jazz & soul, which include both original songs and artist covers.

During the performance Jo will be accompanied by the Joel Byrne McCoullough Trio who are no strangers to The Cherry Tree having performed there for previous live music nights.

The Cherry Tree have also recently launched a new summer menu designed to embrace locally sourced seasonal produce with tasty starters, mains, steaks and desserts.
