Joe Wheatley called up for England C

Darlington midfielder Joe Wheatley (pictured above in action at FC United last Saturday) has been called up for England C for the game against Ireland on Sunday 27th May.

Former Boro Under 23 player Joe has been superb in midfield recently for Quakers, none more so than in last Saturday’s terrific 2-1 away win at FC United, when the post denied him a goal to cap a great personal display.

Manager Tommy Wright said; “We’re all very delighted for Joe, and his call up is a fitting reward for all his hard work in recent weeks.

“I believe that there is much more to come from Joe – he’s doing plenty right at the moment, and now he wants to add goalscoring to his game.”

Joe, who will be attending the Jamie Vardy coaching course during the summer, was in the standby squad for England C’s game against Wales recently.

He will meet up with the rest of the England C players on Friday 25th May.

Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Joe, and hope that he does well.
