A generous north east businessman has launched an offer which allows caring Geordies the opportunity to gift a Christmas lunch to help the homeless and vulnerable people of Tyneside.
Chris Tubman who runs NEOffers.co.uk understands that Christmas can be a very stressful time for everyone but more so for anyone who is unfortunate enough to be homeless during the festive period.
The People’s Kitchen have been feeding the homeless and vulnerable of Newcastle for almost 30 years, six days a week and the charity is run entirely by volunteers, No government funding is received and no one is paid for their work.
On Christmas Day, The Kitchen will provide a full three course meal and Chris has asked his customers to pledge £5 for the cost of a meal with all proceeds going to The People’s Kitchen.
“Last year we started this scheme and raised £6,625, which we are looking to match or break this Christmas.”
“The idea came about because as a company we are always trying to help people in our local area, I have always been keen to help benefit the North East people.
“On a personal level, I have always tried to help homeless people in a small way by giving them meals, sandwiches and other food to help them. With NEoffers.co.uk, I had a vehicle to give this help on a larger scale. I’m hoping that others across the region will get behind the idea and give a £5 donation which would go towards a homeless person having a warm meal on Christmas Day.”
