Lake District Inn to hold Spanish themed dinner and Rioja night

A Lake District inn is holding an exclusive Spanish food and drink night in mid-June, with a special guest flying in from one of the country’s most distinguished wine producers.

The Wild Boar Inn Grill & Smokehouse at Crook near Windermere is to host wine maestro Luis Marculeta from the Rioja Vega winery in Northern Spain for a four course Spanish themed Rioja dinner on Thursday 13 June 2019.

Mr Marculeta is teaming up with The Wild Boar head chef Dylan Evans to pair some of the finest Spanish wines with a specially devised menu, which includes Hispanic style dishes of octopus and lamb.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting Mr Marculeta who will be pairing wines with our four course Spanish dinner, talking about the wine making process and explaining how the wine pairings work with each course,” says Adam Bujok from English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, the manager of The Wild Boar.

“Wines from the Spain’s Rioja region are of course well regarded around the world, and Rioja Vega is one of the few wine cellars whose winemaking tradition dates back to the dawn of wine culture in this outstanding region. This will be a great event for those who are passionate about wine and the creation of fascinating food pairings to go with it.”

Tickets for the Rioja Vega Spanish dinner are £45 per person, with the reception starting at 7:30pm, with dinner commencing at 8pm. Booking is essential as the event is limited to 40 people in total. Bookings can be made by calling The Wild Boar Inn Grill & Smokehouse on 01539 445 225.

The Wild Boar Inn has its own on-site microbrewery, the Brewhouse, and a smoke house, which supplies the restaurant with meats, cheeses and fish. For further information, visit http://englishlakes.co.uk/the-wild-boar/
