Landlord event is a load of rubbish

East Durham Homes, as part of County Durham Housing Group, has worked with the police and local residents to remove rubbish from the playground and skate park near North Crescent, making the area more child-friendly for the summer holidays.

The surrounding streets were also targeted by volunteers who collected 10 bags of rubbish in total, with representatives from Easington and District Neighbourhood Watch Group and Easington Community Garden.

Around 20 volunteers helped to comb the streets for rubbish and waste, which included broken glass within the park area itself.

Peter Eldrett, Customer Involvement Manager at East Durham Homes, said: “We continually review our estates to ensure they are maintained to a high standard.

“The play areas around Easington were flagged as needing our attention, especially as they will be well used during the school holidays.

“I am delighted with the support we received and success of our volunteers’ efforts.”

East Durham Homes holds regular estate walkabouts with local residents to identify areas for improvements.
