Landlord helps estate to take out the trash

A recent litter-pick organised by East Durham Homes has made the streets of South Hetton cleaner and safer.

With the help of pupils from South Hetton Primary School, representatives from South Hetton Residents’ Association, Durham Constabulary, and repairs contractor Morrison, 10 bags of rubbish were collected from the Windsor Drive area of the estate.

More than 20 volunteers helped to comb the streets for rubbish and waste and highlight areas for potential future improvements.

Carole Tilley, Customer Involvement Officer at East Durham Homes, said: “We hold regular estate walkabouts to ensure our streets are maintained to a high standard.

“It’s fantastic that so many people of all ages have got involved in the event, which really does help to instil pride in the community.”
