Landlords warn tenants not to fall prey of bogus callers

Screen Shot 2016-05-12 at 10.22.20County Durham Housing Group is warning tenants to be on their guard following reports of a bogus callers in Seaham.

Tenants of the group’s landlords – Dale & Valley Homes, Durham City Homes and East Durham Homes – have been targeted by an alleged government officer, asking for money to be deposited into a Post Office account.

Tenancy Support Manager at East Durham Homes, Julie Dower, is advising customers to be wary of people calling and asking for money.

She said: “All of our employees and contractors take great care when dealing with tenants and leaseholders, and will provide some form of security check or identification if face-to-face to confirm their identity.

“If you think a bogus caller has tricked you into sharing your personal details, you should contact your bank immediately.”
