LAST CHANCE TO ENJOY WORKSHOPS AND GAMES AT THE POP UP PARK

THERE’S STILL time to make the most of the summer holidays in Sunderland, with a whole host of activities planned at the Pop Up Park.

Organisers Sunderland BID are inviting visitors to head to Market Square to check out the packed programme on offer during the final weeks (closes 2 September).

Families can enjoy giant lawn games, such as Connect Four and Jenga, and get creative with Empire Cinema’s activity sheets, themed around recent releases including Toy Story 4, The Queen’s Corgi, Aladdin and Dora and the Lost City of Gold.

Then, on Saturday 24 August, the team at Katie’s Garden will be at the park for a workshop to create emotion stones from 12pm to 3pm for Health and Wellbeing week, while the following day JD Gym will organise a series of challenges from 12pm to 2pm.

And to celebrate the launch of Elmer’s Great North Parade, Tuesday 2 August will mark the start of Elmer Week, with Katie’s Garden back at the park on Friday 30 August to help little one’s create their very own baby Elmer.

Sharon Appleby, Head of Business Operations at Sunderland BID, is delighted with the response.

“The Pop Up Park was something new for this year and we’re thrilled that it has been such a big hit with those spending time in the city centre over the summer.

“It has been a real hub of activity, especially for families looking to keep children busy during the school holidays, and it has been great to get so many local businesses involved too.

“We’ve got some fantastic things planned for the final two weeks and I hope that anyone who hasn’t had a chance to get down yet will come and see what’s on offer.”

The park is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 4pm on Sunday.
