ONE of the UK’s leading fitness centres is to open across the region, following the purchase of ten franchises by a new North East leisure operation.
Stessa Leisure, set up by former Utilitywise executive, Adam Thompson, is to introduce the Energie Fitness brand at a number of key sites, which include existing gyms along with plans to build new centres.
The company has taken over the former Fitness4Less club at Percy Avenue, Tynemouth which is now enjoying a £200,000 investment which includes the creation of a first floor level, refurbished changing facilities and two studios.
Once the work is completed – in early summer -the gym will be renamed Energie Fitness, with members enjoying all the benefits of being part of a national brand.
“I was looking for a brand that we could introduce to the North East and the Energie Fitness ethos of affordable training and gym membership was a perfect fit,” said Adam.
“I have every confidence that it will become a huge success across the region.”
Former Ramside Hall Hotel spa general manager, Anthony Woodhouse, has come on board as a director for Stessa Leisure, with ex-professional footballer Ed Savage taking up the role as regional manager.
Energie Fitness prides itself on offering affordable gym memberships, with a strong emphasis on making personal trainers available so that members can have bespoke programmes created for them.
“It’s very exciting to be part of bringing this brand to the North East,” said Anthony. “We have some huge plans moving forward and will be making announcements about other openings on a regular basis.
“We are actively looking for other sites where we can set up Energie Fitness gyms, with a long term plan of them being the largest chain in the region.”
The Tynemouth gym has been in operation for more than 15 years, originally linked with Percy Park Rugby Club.
Energie Fitness started franchising fitness clubs in 2003, under its Fit4Less and Energie Fitness Club brands. It now has outlets across the UK and has won numerous awards.
