Leading North Yorkshire Veterinary Practices Agree Merger

A Malton vets has merged with a bigger neighbouring practice.

The Mount Veterinary Group has joined forces with The Minster Veterinary Practice in York.

Clients have been reassured that there will be no change to the level of service and pet care they receive, but the move will enable the Malton practice to draw on greater assistance from a larger team at Minster and a wider range of facilities.

Vets Tanya Fielding and Hannah French will continue at the Middlecave Road surgery, along with experienced nursing team of Michelle Coatsworth, Jane Owen, Clare Wilson and Stella Ellis.

Mrs Fielding said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our clients the same excellent standard of care, but now with greater resources and other areas of veterinary expertise.

“Minster Vets is expanding and we see this as a positive move as we will have the benefits of being part of a bigger veterinary team.

“We would like to reassure all our clients that there will be no change to the level of service and pet care they receive from us, and the practice will maintain the friendly, family atmosphere they are accustomed to.

“We will retain the same caring team with the added benefit of immediate access to diagnostic tools and services like Cardiology, Orthopaedics and Laparoscopy at Minster’s main hospital. This will save travelling time as clients have previously been referred to clinics further away for these services.”

Clinic times at Malton remain the same, and evening clinic consults previously held at their former Norton branch will switch to Malton, where there is a full range of facilities and nurses.

Emergency on-call provision will be provided by Minster Vets at their main hospital in Salisbury Road, York.

The merger marks further expansion by Minster, which has six small animal practices and a further three equine units in North Yorkshire.

The Mount Veterinary Practice’s equine section has been merged with Minster’s equine clinic in Malton.

Tim Shearman, clinical director at Minster Vets, said: “The team at Minster are excited to be merging with the team from The Mount. We are committed to working together to continue to raise the standards of the services we can provide for pet owners in York, Malton and surrounding areas.”

The move follows the retirement of The Mount Veterinary Practice owner Edward Button.

Earlier this year, Ashleigh Vet Clinic in Knaresborough also merged with Minster.

Minster is part of VetPartners UK, which includes some of the most respected and trusted veterinary practices across the North of England and Scotland.
