Leisure centre celebrates 25th birthday with 25p swimming

Swimmers can celebrate Teesdale Leisure Centre’s 25th birthday with swimming for just 25p.

On November 30 1990, Olympic bronze medallist and Great North Run founder Brendan Foster opened the centre, on Strathmore Road in Barnard Castle.

Now, two and a half decades on, the Durham County Council run pool is marking the anniversary by offering visitors the chance to dip their toe in the water for less than the price of a chocolate bar.

The 25p swimming is available from 7am until 11.15am, noon until 1pm, and 3pm until 8pm – though swimmers are advised that the leisure centre may be busy during these times.
