Libraries open the door to a Wonderful World

North Yorkshire libraries are offering visitors a chance to explore new activities as they embrace the theme of this year’s Family Learning Festival – It’s a Wonderful World!

The festival is the biggest annual celebration of family learning in the UK and takes place from 15 to 30 October. Every year, organisations across the country put on thousands of activities that bring families together for learning that’s fun, informal and inspiring.

Families can explore great things to do as a family or try something new in North Yorkshire libraries during the festival. Activities range from crafts and origami to discovering the wonders of space or learning about nature. Events will happen around the county. Contact your local library for more details or visit www.northyorks.gov.uk/libraries.

County Councillor Chris Metcalfe, Executive Member for Library and information Services, said: “It’s great to learn new things as a family and libraries across the county are offering the opportunity to do just that, with a wide variety of activities for free or just a small charge. If people aren’t regular library-goers, they can discover the many services libraries offer for all ages at the same time.”

The highlights include:

Many events are free but for some there is a small charge. Contact your local library for more details.
