JUNE 2022: Talented students from Stagecoach Performing Arts Huddersfield and Holmfirth are among fifteen other schools from across the UK that will take to the illustrious Shaftesbury Theatre on Sunday 26th June 2022.
The iconic West End venue has been home to two other successful performances by Stagecoach students earlier this year, as many students missed out on performing live in 2020. The showcase provides the students with a chance to come together for what is set to be another fantastic showcase, building on their creativity, courage and skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.
Stagecoach Huddersfield and Holmfirth are alongside various Stagecoach Performing Arts schools, that have travelled many miles to London to perform over the weekend, and have been rehearsing for what will make another spectacular event. These include students from across the country, including Woodford, Portishead, Swansea, Bromley, Winchester, Cheltenham, Putney, Winchester, Potters Bar, Cheshunt, Farnham, Haywards Heath, Ampthill, Aylesbury, Twickenham and Trowbridge.

“We are thrilled to be involved in the Shaftesbury Theatre event this year! We have always found the events are a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn new material, perform in fantastic venues across the country and learn by seeing other stagecoach students’ new work.
This year we are bringing our piece ‘Come on with the Rain’, a celebration of the ‘splash-hit’ Singin’ in the Rain. We chose this piece as we really wanted to help hencourage musical theatre history knowledge. Many of our students hadn’t even heard of this musical when we started, and now many of them have gone and watched the original movie, seen it professionally on the stage and have loved getting to recreate the magic of the golden age of cinema and Hollywood.”
Stagecoach Performing Arts reported a seven per cent rise in student enrolments since 2020, and prides itself on building Creative Courage For Life® among students which is more important than ever as children’s mental health, confidence and development have been impacted by the lockdown. Performing arts’ powerful impact on improving children’s mental health, along with the need for social interaction, a creative outlet and a happy and positive environment where children can be themselves and make friends, have been key contributors to this spike in enquiries and enrolments.
Stagecoach Huddersfield is part of a network of more than 3000 extra-curricular Performing Arts Schools worldwide. Stagecoach aims to make a difference in its students’ lives by teaching Creative Courage for Life and many children have gone on to study and work in Performing Arts from blockbuster films to countless roles in local theatre productions. Early Stages classes are available for children aged four to six and Main Stages classes take place for six to 18-year-olds every weekend during term time.
