Love is in the Air – Modern Romance added to line up of “Northumberland Live at Bedlington”

Screen Shot 2016-04-12 at 10.14.54The 80s party is now complete with the announcement that chart-topping legends Johnny Hates Jazz will be joined on Saturday July 16th at Gallagher Park by the one and only, Modern Romance.
Audiences can spread their wings and flock down to the best free gig in town as ‘Northumberland Live at Bedlington’ promises to crank up the music and let the sing-along, rock and roll juke box kick into action.
Modern Romance are famous for filling dance floors across Europe with their Brit-Funk-Latin grooves and getting people to shake their hips to such UK chart classics as “Everybody Salsa” (1981 / No.12); “Ay Ay Ay Ay Moosey” (1981 / No. 10); “The Best Years of Our Lives” (1982 / No.4); “Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White” (1982 / No. 15);  “High Life” (1983 / No. 8), and “Walking in the Rain” (1983 / No. 7).
Their brand of infectious music is brought to life by a fabulous live band that will have people dancing to every beat – hopefully with the summer sun beating down on the South East Northumberland audience.
Northumberland Live in Bedlington is supported by Northumberland County Council; along with BBC Newcastle 95.4FM Digital as its official media partner.
Cllr Val Tyler, Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture at Northumberland County Council said: “Northumberland Live has a special way of bringing the best out of local communities, and we hope the people of Bedlington and the surrounding regions do just that and create a magical atmosphere this July at Gallagher Park.
“Families will be drawn to an event that promises to be a lot of fun and create a great deal of memories to be remembered for years to come.”
Northumberland Live in Bedlington will take over the beautiful setting of Gallagher Park, where families will be able to stay for the full day and even bring along a picnic.  Asides from the music there will be a selection of family entertainment, sporting showcases, and things to do from street theatre through to locally sourced arts, crafts and food stalls.
Another community element being brought to the summer proceedings is the fantastic news that “The Big Event” organised by local charity Leading Link will be staged during Northumberland Live at Bedlington. This has become a large part of the local calendar, which has now found a new home at Northumberland Live.
Northumberland Live in Bedlington will be staged on Saturday July 16th from 11am until 9pm and is FREE!  For further information please visit the event’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/NorthumberlandliveBedlington16/timeline or on Twitter @NlandLiveFest.
The organisers will also be announcing a selection of local bands and performers, who intend to bring their own electric atmosphere to the proceedings…watch this space!
Northumberland Live in Bedlington will be happening just three weeks after its sister festival hosts BRIT Award winners Scouting For Girls (on Saturday June 25th) at South Beach in Blyth.
