600-year-old Lumley Castle, Chester-le-Street, is one of the region’s foremost wedding venues with bookings for summer dates often made two years in advance.
Now, the four star, 73-bedroom hotel is giving couples, keen to wed sooner rather than later, the chance to say “I do” on selected dates in early 2016, with a special Sweet ’16 offer.
The package, which costs £50 per guest, includes the hire of a ceremony room and either the Garter State Room or the Baron’s Hall for the reception, meaning couples could save up to £1700 on the cost of their big day.
It also includes a glass of Bucks Fizz or mulled wine and canapés and a three course wedding breakfast created by chefs from the hotels’ renowned Black Knight restaurant, followed by coffee.
A range of additional items is also included, such as white table linen and chair covers with a choice of coloured bow, a top table flower arrangement, the castle’s candelabras for use as table centrepieces and the use of a cake stand and knife.
The Sweet ’16 package also gives couples the chance to extend the celebrations at with an evening buffet from just £13 per person.
“With its thick stone walls, opulent décor and open log fires, Lumley Castle is at its most welcoming in the winter and early spring,” said general manager Christine Gott.
“And, by releasing these late availability dates, we are giving more couples than ever the chance to marry at the most romantic venue in the region.”
The Sweet ’16 package is available for parties of a minimum of 65 daytime and 100 evening guests and couples who quote Sweet ’16 at the time of booking will be offered a complimentary sweet table on the evening of their wedding.
