Major Upgrade For Gosforth Branch Of Newcastle Building Society

The Gosforth branch of the North East’s biggest building society is set to unveil a modern new look in time for Christmas.

Newcastle Building Society is creating an enhanced, open plan branch on Gosforth High Street as part of a continuing multi-million pound investment programme across the whole of its branch network.

The refurbished 1,400 sq ft branch will provide Society customers with better access to services, information and advice, as well as additional space for their transactions.

A community area also forms part of the new design, which will provide a free space in which local people, groups and good causes can hold meetings and events.

To allow the refurbishment work to take place, the branch will close at 1pm on Friday 12 October and will welcome customers back to a bright and modern new branch environment in mid-December when it officially reopens.

Stuart Miller, customer director of Newcastle Building Society, said: “At a time when many financial institutions are closing branches across the region, we remain fully committed to maintaining and enhancing a modern branch network that sits right at the heart of our communities.

“Our Northumberland Street and Portland House branches in Newcastle city centre are available to serve Gosforth customers while refurbishment work is ongoing, and while we are sorry for any inconvenience that the temporary closure of the Gosforth branch might cause, we think our customers will very much like what they see when it reopens.”
