Presently on tour with a pair of Northern Brits, American guitar legend, Marco Mendoza, heads to the UK next month for a ten-date mini-tour.

Beginning in London on June 2, Mendoza, along with guitarist Micky McCrystal (Tygers of Pan Tang) and drummer Kyle Hughes (Bumblefoot) will perform eight dates finishing in Newcastle on June 10.

The UK tour is an additional circuit to the second leg of Mendoza’s ‘Viva La Rock Tour,’ which promotes his latest album, Viva La Rock released earlier this year and is the third solo offering for the bass guitarist known for his performances with that of Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy and The Dead Daisies, among others.

“Every time I come this way I try to take advantage of playing this side of the ocean,” stated the Los Angeles native.

“If I’m honest it does save flying back and forth, doing that really beats me up crossing the different time zones so it makes sense to schedule everything whilst here.”

Having already completed one European tour earlier this year, Mendoza, McCrystal and Hughes are currently travelling Europe again, that set to finish in Torino, Italy, later this month.

“I’ve already done 20+ dates across Europe and we’re adding to that with this, second leg,” Marco added.

“I’m just excited that people want to hear my music though and right now things are going great and I’m really happy.

“Having two great, hungry players like Kyle and Micky with me suits me as well.

“They are very open-minded of my vision, my music, and we get along on so many different levels, creatively and spiritually.

“If I’m honest, they’re the reason I booked more shows as well.”

Very much about the music, Marco is aware of how much his fellow bandmates playing a hometown gig (at Trillians Rock Bar) in Newcastle means to them, likening it to his returns to play back in LA.

With a lot happening both now, and later on in the year, Marco is delighted with “the amount of electricity, love in the air for my new album,” and can’t wait to bring his sounds to British shores.

“When I’m doing my thing I like to be able to get along with people and I’m having a blast, really enjoying it all,” he added.

“I’ve played a few UK venues before and for me, playing a hometown gig like what Kyle and Micky will be, is like playing a hometown gig back in LA, it’s a buzz, a big one at that.”

Marco Mendoza’s UK leg of the Viva La Rock Tour begins at Nightclub Colis (London) on June 2 and takes in Anvil (Bournemouth), The Patriot (Crumlin), Iron Road (Evesham), Rebellion (Manchester), Corporation (Sheffield) and Cairn Hotel (Cambridge) before finishing at Trillians (Newcastle) on June 10.
