A LEADING educational placement provider for pre-medical students is celebrating after scooping a prestigious national award.

Medical Projects, based at Design Works, Newcastle, took first place at the British Youth Travel Awards 2018 – co-ordinated by The British Educational Travel Association – for Best Educational Product.

The company beat stiff opposition from across the UK to be announced a winner, in an awards ceremony recognising some of the biggest and best-known businesses in the UK youth, student and educational travel industry.

Managing Director, Mark Williams, said he was exceptionally proud of his team.

“This is recognition of the service and the value our team and placements provide,” he said.

“It’s a huge honour but also confirms the high quality and dedication that we give to our students, teachers and parents.

“Schools come back to us time and time again because of the level of customer care we offer and our ability to tailor-make trips – and this award confirms that we are absolutely right in our approach.”

Medical Projects provides pre-medical, dental, nursing and midwifery courses in London, Sri Lanka and Tanzania to schools and students thinking about a career in medicine.

The courses bring together the best teachers in the most innovative teaching facilities, to create once in a lifetime educational experiences for students.

Projects for 2019 begin in February half term and run right throughout the school year, covering everything from medical school application and interview preparation, clinical skills, simulation suites and hospital based work experience.

Mark Williams – who previously worked at one of the UK’s largest, outstanding sixth form colleges – formed Medical Projects in 2014, after recognising many school and college careers services were often poorly funded and lacked support for aspiring healthcare students.

Soon into Mark’s start-up journey, he brought in Eleanor Garrick – a highly experienced Operations Manager, who has organised placements for over 11,000 students.

Now, four years later, the company employs six full-time members of staff in the North East, and works with some of the best young doctors and teaching staff in the UK, and overseas.
