Memories of the Sage for returning Macari

Over the past ten years the soul queen, Beth Macari, has been building up a repertoire fast become the envy of her contemporaries.

Unafraid to mix it with the biggest names, she’s been seen with Jane McDonald, Nicole Sherzinger, Tinie Tempah, at Sunday for Sammy and, as this year began, mixing with Kissy Sell Out on the track, ‘Like That,’ which will be released on the 19 February.

Now, as she heads back to the Sage, a venue she performed at all those years ago as a raw fifteen-year-old, Beth, now approaching her 25thbirthday, is, after some soul-searching of her own, aiming to make 2018 the year…

“I’m looking forward to coming back here and performing again,” said Beth who supports RJ Thompson on February 23.

“I’ve been here several times in the past, the first when I was fifteen, and again (in December 2014) when I was touring with Jane McDonald, so have great memories of such a beautiful, iconic venue.”

Arriving with a stripped back line-up of her band, Beth will be ably supported by the trio of Les Watts (keys), Stuart Davies (guitar) and Phil Bell (drums), the outing affords the pop-dance-soul sensation to perform her new music for the first time, her new, original sounds being aired.

“This is a fantastic gig to be involved in,” she added.

“I’ve performed alongside RJ before and I know his band are super tight so was something I immediately jumped at.

“I’ll be playing my new music for the first time and I’m super excited to be able to do so in a live setting.

“The Kissy track will get an airing along with a majority of brand new, original music.”

In amongst her new music will be Beth’s next single, which is scheduled for release in early April, the launch coming immediately after she performs at the Manchester Camerata’s Evening of Motown and Northern Soul, at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester on March 30.

Before that, the Sage Gateshead has the pleasure of Beth Macari and band, along with Eve Simpson, the pair supporting RJ Thompson on Friday 23 February.
