On Friday 18 March, 12 young people from the South Bank-based technical training provider were invited pitch side, before the top of the table Championship clash between Middlesbrough and Hull City, to recognise the important work they carried out for the children’s charity, Zoe’s Place.
Every year young people and staff from TTE offer their time and expertise to help out worthwhile community projects. This year installed an emergency lighting system and external power supply at Zoe’s Place, which would remain in operation if there was a power cut from the national grid, allowing staff to safely tend to the children in their care – all of which was documented in MFC’s match day programme.
In 2015 two apprentices TTE teamed up with Cleveland Fire Brigade to help deliver Home Fire Safety Visits, and, the year before, a group of apprentices designed and manufactured heavy duty specialist rakes for MFC, which are used to divot the turf after each game to maximise grass and root re-growth.
Steve Grant, Managing Director at TTE, said: “The work our apprentices have carried out at Zoe’s place and on other extra-curricular projects demonstrate the level at which they will be operating as a result of our industry-standard training.
“As well as helping great causes, these projects give our young people the chance to complete a challenging project that draws upon the skills and capabilities that have been developed in the workshop. At TTE we want our young trainees to gain technical skills, but also life skills and an appreciation of how helping others is so important in the world. The trainees, and the trainers, really enjoy these projects and get great satisfaction from them.”
“The new lighting system and external power supply is professional work that will serve the charity very well – the group should be extremely proud for helping a charity that improves the lives of thousands of children.”
