MIDDLESBROUGH MARKET CAFÉ LAUNCHES VEGAN MENU

Dundas Indoor Market café Jean’s Kitchen has launched a new vegan menu in association with the market’s vegan business The Little Vegan Market.

Vegan cooked breakfasts, vegan cheeseburgers, soya mince chilli and chickpea curry will be on the menu at Jean’s Kitchen throughout October, as the café responds to more requests from shoppers for alternatives to their traditional menu.

Louise Matthews, Manager of Jean’s Kitchen said: “As the popularity of a vegan lifestyle grows we were getting more enquiries about vegan food, so we have worked together with our neighbours The Little Vegan Market to put on five vegan dishes throughout October.  If they prove popular then we will keep them on the menu.”

Committed vegan Charlotte Bottomley who, along with Matthew Wilson, runs The Little Vegan Market in Dundas Indoor Market said: “We’ve worked hard to be the number one place to buy vegan food in Middlesbrough, attracting visitors from across Teesside.  It’s great to collaborate with Jean’s Kitchen so that our vegan customers can now get something to eat and drink in the market, and Matthew and I know where to have our lunch every day!”

The trial menu at Jean’s Kitchen is:

Vegan cooked breakfast with Tea – £4.99

Jacket Potato with choice of one filling (Cheese, Coleslaw, Beans, Chilli) – £4.35

Vegan Cheese Burger with Chips salad and tea – £5.99

Soya Mince Chilli and Rice with tea – £5.99

Chickpea curry and rice with tea – £5.99

Dundas Market Manager David Harris said: “This is an excellent example of our traders working together to attract more customers to our friendly indoor market.”
