Middlesbrough Mela Association Annual General Meeting

ONE of the region’s leading cultural events returns to Middlesbrough this summer – why not get involved?

Organisers of the Middlesbrough Mela are always on the look-out for people to play their part in the hugely popular multi-cultural celebration.

The 2018 Middlesbrough Mela Association Annual General Meeting takes place on Monday, February 26 – and all are welcome to attend.

The Mela is firmly established as one of the highlights of the Tees Valley calendar, with a firm reputation as a safe, fun family weekend for people from all sectors of society regardless of race, religion, age or social status – a true advert for community cohesion and cultural diversity.

This year’s AGM at the Town Hall will include the presentation of the Annual and Treasurer’s Reports to members followed by the election of Mela Association Committee Members for 2018-19.

The Mela Committee is a team of dedicated individuals who work hard all year round to put on the event, and it is their work which helps to foster and encourage a deep-rooted spirit of unity and togetherness.

And the Committee is on the look-out for new members, including two young people aged between 16 and 18.

As committee members they will be involved in the actual running of the Mela, so an interest developing and managing the event – plus a willingness to attend and contribute to monthly meetings – is crucial.

Those wishing to join must complete a membership form prior to the AGM to be eligible to vote.

The Middlesbrough Mela is supported by Middlesbrough Council.

Anyone wishing to attend, become a member or be considered for election is asked to contact Leanne Littlewood on 01642 729137.
