A state of the art extra care housing development in Middlesbrough has celebrated a successful first year.
Beechfield Court and Beresford Crescent, situated in the heart of Thorntree, was completed by Tristar Homes, part of the Thirteen Group, 12 months ago to support independent living. It has proved a very popular scheme with a limited number of properties still available.
Beechfield Court plays home to 65 one and two bedroom apartments for over 55s and Beresford Crescent, which incorporates Beresford Close, has six fully adapted, two bedroom bungalows and 16 two bedroom bungalows with low level access showers, designed for over 45s with additional needs.
The scheme gives people the opportunity to live as independently as they like, with on-site care, commissioned by the local authority, available if they need it.
Residents have access to a bistro and hairdresser and can enjoy the dining terrace and shared community garden.
Tristar Homes worked closely with Middlesbrough Council to develop the area and increase the supply of extra care housing by regenerating the former Thorntree Library and Youth Centre.
The residents held a party to celebrate the key milestone, with entertainment and high tea, giving them, their families and the local community the opportunity to come together.
Chris Joynes, Head of Housing for Thirteen, the parent company of Tristar Homes, said:“This scheme is already enriching lifestyles, promoting independence and enhancing opportunities for the residents.
“Living in a vibrant, safe and secure environment, there is a fantastic community spirit and residents are taking full advantage of the facilities available.”
