The developers of Milburngate have announced an agreement with Marston’s, which will see the Durham City development become a new site for its Pitcher and Piano brand.

The premium, bespoke-designed bar and restaurant will be part of Marston’s continual development programme to provide quality pub restaurants and bars throughout the UK.

Set over two storeys, the glass-fronted, 693-square-metre bar is due to begin construction in late 2017, opening 2019.

It will be uniquely designed to complement the styling of the contemporary Milburngate development, offering exceptional views of the historic city’s riverside and skyline including the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which features Durham Cathedral and the Castle.

This addition will be the second premium leisure operator to choose to locate at Milburngate following on from boutique independent cinema operator, Everyman. They will take their place alongside a selection of high quality restaurants and bars, with the developers actively engaged in advanced talks with a number of operators.

A landmark development for Durham and the wider North East region, Milburngate will also feature a mix of luxury apartments and high quality offices. Leading to the creation of more than 1,000 new jobs, Milburngate is being developed by Carillion, Arlington Real Estate and Richardsons Capital LLP.
